A Quick Guide to Using Blogger

Access your UA Google account by going to www.uaf.edu and clicking on "Webmail" on the right hand side of the navigation bar. Sign in with your UA credentials.

Once you are into your email account, click on the "waffle" on the top-right corner. This will open a drop down menu with different Google apps.

Click "More" and then "Even more from Google" at the bottom of the drop-down menu. Scroll down and find "Blogger" under "Social." Click that link.

Now you are in your Blogger Dashboard.

To create a new blog, click the "New Blog" icon. Create a title for your blog, such as your name or "English 111x (this can be easily changed later if you want). You also must enter a domain name. Try entering different combinations until you come up with a name that is available (this will be more difficult to change later, so choose something you can live with). Once you hit "Create Blog," you are ready to go.

If your blog has already been created and you just need to add a post, simply click on the orange icon with a pen in it to the right of the blog name. This will take you straight to the new post creator.

Once you have written a post, you have three options: publish, save, or preview. Pressing "publish" will make your post public right away. Pressing "save" will create a draft that you can access, edit, and publish later. Pressing "preview" will give you a chance to see what your blog will look like to your audience before you publish it.

To access more options on your blog, press the large "Blogger" icon on the top left side of your screen. This will take you back to your Blogger Dashboard (see picture 2). Now, click on the name of your blog. This will take you to your "Blog Overview."

Here you can find a lot of option and information for your blog. One important thing you will need to know is how to access saved drafts. To access a list of your posts, you have two options. Either (1) click on the "Post" icon situated at the top left side of the page, between the pen icon and the "View Blog" icon, or (2) click "Posts" on the vertical menu on the left.

On this page, you will find a list of all the posts you have written on your blog.

When you take your mouse to hover over the post name, three options will appear: "Edit," "Preview," or "Delete." Simply click "Edit" to continue working on your post.
